History

Made with high-quality rice and bountiful water—that’s Akita’s sake. To bring the mellow and profound flavor of this high-grade sake and share it with the nation, brewers, politicians, and investors gathered in 1922 (Taisho 11) and founded Akita Meijyo Co., Ltd. We were founded in Yuzawa City, which was not only known for its love of sake, but also for being called the “Nada district of Tohoku”, which is a famous sake production area in Kobe City.

Our number one sake brew, “Bishu [tasty sake] Ranman”, is endorsed by sake-drinkers, and has become known nationwide.

Product Features

<Production Process>
We make “Ranman” by taking advantage of Akita’s cold and snowy climate, which not only prevents bacteria from contaminating our brews, but also helps us suppress rapid fermentation so that instead, they ferment slowly. This is our very own “low-temperature, long fermentation period” method.

Highlight

Currently, at Ranman we have our traditional-style “Ogachi” warehouse and our modern-style “Mitake” warehouse.
In our “Mitake” warehouse, we take you through a guided automated tour, programmed and managed by computers.
From our fifth to first floors, we will guide you through each step of the brewing process, from rice to sake.
Additionally, so that our guests can get a taste of the atmosphere of sake warehouses back in the day, we’ve prepared a “Shodan Room” (120㎡).
In the “Shodan Room”, you can try samples of our refined sake, shochu, and liqueurs, and we also have a store where you can purchase our sake and other Ranman goods.
