History

Founded in 1689 (Genroku 2). During the Horeki era (1751-1764), the Satake family – who then ruled the Akita Domain – praised our sake: “hidete yoshi” (“outstanding”). From that our sake was bestowed the name “Hideyoshi”, and in 1848 (Kaiei 1), we became the sake supplier for the entire domain.

Product Features

<Production Process>
We prepare our sake with Akita-grown rice and underground water drawn from the Ou Mountains. In our snow-buried warehouses, we allow it to ferment slowly. We are dedicated to our homemade process, as it is the embodiment of our many years of expertise.

Our junmai ginjoshu “Shosei” has a refreshing aftertaste and is special for having just the right level of fragrance for a ginjoshu. It is a brew that anyone and everyone can enjoy.

Our sparkling sake “La Chamte” is a weaker sake made with Akita Komachi rice. Its fizzy bubbles make it almost like champagne.

Highlight

In our main house and sake brewing facility – renovated in the early Meiji era – you will certainly feel the profoundness and personality of the many months and years that have passed in this space. From the main house you can observe a large garden with different blossoms that bloom in every season, and can be enjoyed all-year round.

In our brewery, we have a “Bunkogura” (book storage building) where 19 generations of the Suzuki Family brewery’s items are collected. Not only do we own many of our brewery’s biographies and antiques, but we also have gifts received from famed federal lords Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Oda Nobunaga. From these historical artworks, you can certainly feel the time-honored depth of our brewery.
